Project approval by Lyon College’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) is valid for one year only. If the duration of data collection procedures exceeds one year, the principal investigator must submit an IRB Research Protocol Renewal Application (see Revised Common Rule §46.109(e) for additional information). Your project must be reviewed and approved for renewal by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) before contacting additional participants or collecting additional data.
Note that for the Research Protocol Renewal Application to be approved, all project personnel (including the Principal Investigator) must be up-to-date with their Human Research Protection Foundational Training with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. HHS ethics certificates are valid for 3 years. You can find additional information about ethics training by navigating to our “Ethics Training” webpage on the navigation bar. If the ethics certificate for one (or more) project personnel has expired, please complete ethics training before submitting the Research Protocol Renewal Application to avoid your application being automatically rejected.
All continuing proposal requests are submitted through Laserfiche using the Research Protocol Renewal Application. A link to this form can be found below. Do not exit the form until you have completed all the required sections and submitted your proposal. Progress on your form will not be saved.
