Principal Investigators (PIs) and study personnel must provide Lyon College’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) with interim compliance reports at least every 12 months. The IRB may sometimes require a shorter reporting period to ensure compliance with federal regulations or if the project will be completed in less than twelve months. If data collection procedures are expected to take 10 months, for example, your interim report will be due at the 5-month mark. For projects lasting longer than 24 months, you must submit an interim compliance report AND a research protocol renewal application at the 12-month mark. If your research protocol renewal application is disapproved, you must conclude the project and submit a final compliance report.
The interim compliance report will focus on anticipated and unanticipated risks to research subjects, researchers, and other members of the campus community and all actions taken or planned by investigators to lower higher than expected risks.
All interim compliance reports are submitted through Laserfiche using the Interim Compliance Report Application. A link to this form can be found below. Do not exit the form until you have completed all the required sections and submitted your proposal. Progress on your form will not be saved.
