Religion and Philosophy Major and Minor

Religion and Philosophy challenges students to raise big questions and reflect on life, faith, and the society they live in. In keeping with Lyon’s Christian heritage, the religion and philosophy program encourages students to understand positions different from their own, to evaluate them critically, and to form their own point of view. Students have the flexibility to pursue philosophy, religion, or ethics within the program depending on what their interests are.

Why study Religion and Philosophy at Lyon College?

Lyon’s religion and philosophy program promotes interdisciplinary thinking and the development of open-minded individuals who consider opposing beliefs and differing viewpoints fairly. The program also emphasizes ethics and civic education, which are the cornerstones of Lyon’s core curriculum. Lyon challenges students to engage with ethical and civic issues outside of the classroom, too.
